FOOD | Greek Street Grill

8/26/2021

Hands down, undisputed, BEST fast casual Greek food in Southern California. Greek Street Grill has been my go-to ever since I started going there back in college (University of California, Riverside). What makes this restaurant so great is not only the delicious and affordable food, but also the generosity of the owner, Spyro. Every single time we’ve been, he always ensures our food is prepared just right. I often see him going around to different tables asking how people are enjoying their dishes. On a couple occasions, Spyro has even sat down with us to chat about life (everything from our jobs, to STONKS, to marriage). The longest talk we’ve had with Spyro was an hour!

Greek Street Grill prides themselves on serving authentic Greek dishes, “the way they serve it in Greece!” Here, you can enjoy a full menu of salads, classic pita sandwiches, wraps, grilled meats and seafood complimented by flavorful sides such as feta fries, rice, and hummus.

Enough introduction, let’s dive into the deliciousness.

Things to Consider Before Your Meal

Reservations:

A fast casual restaurant, so obviously no reservations needed! They do get fairly busy during peak times (lunch and dinner) but the line to order usually isn’t any longer than a 5-minute wait.

Attire:

Again, fast casual so come in whatever’s comfortable.

Parking:

Ample free parking. The restaurant is located in a plaza that also has other restaurants and grocery stores.

Location:

Greek Street Grill is located at the Sierra Village Shopping Center in the Inland Empire (Riverside). The exact address is 3312 La Sierra Ave Ste 103, Riverside, CA 92503. Now there isn’t much to do in Riverside, but if you’re ever passing by the area, you HAVE to give this place a shot.

My Favorite Restaurant in the Inland Empire

Order:

  1. 4 Item Combo Dinner ($11.49) - For my combo platter, I chose to get gyro, calamari, greek salad, and fries. Each plate comes with a side of pita bread and tzatziki sauce. I’m literally salivating as I look at the pictures of my dinner. The sheer amount of food they give you is astounding, I think I was about to pass out after the meal. The gyro had an amazingly soft texture and the calamari was deep fried to perfection. Both proteins were seasoned very well and were full of flavor. In between these savory bites, I’d stuff my mouth with their delicious Greek salad. The tanginess and acidity of the salad dressing served as a nice palate cleanser. The pita bread was warm and fluffy and I found myself dunking them in the tzatziki sauce with every bite.

  2. Gyro Dinner ($10.79) - My girlfriend got the gyro dinner plate. Instead of fries and calamari, she opted for 2 sides of their Greek salad to be a bit healthier. She and I both agree, this is THE spot to go to for Greek food.

4 item combo dinner. You can’t really see the gyro here because it’s buried under the mountain of calamari.

Gyro dinner with Greek salads for both sides.

Service:

I really can’t stress enough how wonderful the service at Greek Street Grill is, despite it being a fast casual restaurant. When the owner of the restaurant walks around to greet each table, you know it’s the real deal. Even the cashiers stopped by to ask us if there was anything else they could get us. Honestly, this place beats some sit-down, 4-dollar-sign restaurants (*cough cough, Inn of the Seventh Ray).

Ambiance:

Very clean inside, with various pictures of Greece on the walls. The owner definitely does a great job of up-keeping this place.

The Verdict

If you don’t know how I feel about this place by now, you’ve missed the whole picture. An absolute gem in the Inland Empire. The combination of convenience, scrumptious food, affordable prices given the portion sizes, AND exceptional service makes this joint one of my favorites of all time. Now I’ve really done this restaurant dirty, because the last time (before this last visit) we were here was about 5 years ago… But let me tell you, food quality has stayed consistent, and it tasted just like the first time I ate there with my girlfriend years ago, even despite their coronavirus pandemic hardships.

Props to you Spyro, and I promise we’ll come back more frequently!
